Back-to-school events set for Aug. 29-30

Plymouth School District students and their families are invited to attend back-to-school events to meet faculty and see classrooms before the first day of school Tuesday Sept. 5.

School offices will be open during these events, so that families may pay fees and turn in supplemental forms. Families already should have completed the Skyward portion of registration; those who haven’t should do so as soon as possible.

Elementary Sneak Peeks

Fairview, Horizon, and Parkview will have Sneak Peeks from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Wednesday Aug. 30. Students and families can meet teachers, see classrooms, and drop off school supplies.

Riverview Sneak Peek

Riverview Middle School will have its annual Sneak Peek from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday Aug. 29. Students and families can meet teachers, see classrooms, and find lockers. Also that evening:

  • Cross Country (open to grades 5-8) will have an informational meeting at 5 p.m. in the gym
  • Volleyball (open to girls in grades 7-8) will have an informational meeting at 5:15 p.m. in the gym
  • Youth Center (open to grades 5-8), a safe after-school option operated by Community Ed & Rec, will have an open house from 4 to 6 p.m.

Plymouth High School

Plymouth High School will have its annual New Student Orientation from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday Aug. 30, giving students and families a chance to meet teachers, learn about extracurriculars, and sample cafeteria fare.

Attendees should park in front of the school or in the student lot and enter the auditorium lobby (Door 1). The evening’s schedule is as follows:

  • 5 p.m.: Doors open; pick up schedules
  • 5:30 p.m.: Informational meeting in auditorium
  • 6 p.m.: Report to Panther Time
    • Find classrooms and meet teachers
    • Extracurricular Fair
    • Food in cafeteria
  • 7 p.m.: Activities/Athletic Code Meeting in auditorium (required for all new participants with a parent/guardian)

In addition, from 4 to 8 p.m. that evening will be PHS Fine Arts Booster Club Night, presented by BadgerState Restoration and Tom & Jerry’s Mini Golf & Batting Cages. The event will feature food trucks, outdoor raffles, and music by The Chili Dogs from 5:30 to 8 p.m.

First day of school

The first day of school for the 2023-24 school year is Tuesday Sept. 5, the day after Labor Day. Some exceptions:

  • Freshmen only at PHS on Tuesday Sept. 5; grades 10-12 begin Wednesday Sept. 6.
  • Grade 5 only at Riverview on Tuesday Sept. 5; grades 6-8 begin Wednesday Sept. 6.
  • Half of 4K and 5K students come Tuesday Sept. 5 and the other half come Wednesday Sept. 6, with all kindergarten students attending on Thursday Sept. 7. (Families will be notified which day to begin.)
  • 3K students begin Monday Sept. 11 (Monday/Wednesday class) or Tuesday Sept. 12 (Tuesday/Thursday class).
