Elementary schools

  • Fairview kindergartners went to Camp Y Koda, where they dug for fossils, hiked for clues and rowed a boat.
  • Fairview first-graders took a trip to Kohler-Andrae State Park and Home Depot. At the park, they walked some of the cordwalk, watch a video about keeping our beaches and waterways clean, and explored the nature center. After a quick visit to the playground they headed to Home Depot to build a mini planter, where each kid read the instructions, hammered in the nails, painted, and planted.
  • Horizon kindergartners went to Bookworm Gardens in May for a hands-on, age-appropriate, and learner-based outdoors opportunity that incorporated literature in the beautiful gardens.
  • Parkview 4K took a field trip to Camp Y-Koda on May 24, where students learned to be nature detectives and went on a hike, and also learned about frogs and used nets to catch frogs at the pond.
  • Parkview kindergartners in Brianna Damkot’s class took a field trip at the end of April to Vision Aires Farm in Eldorado, to meet their adopted cow Ruby (part of the Discover Dairy Adopt a Cow program),  learn more about farm animals and how milk is produced, pet farm animals, sit in big tractors, and see how farm life is in person.
  • Parkview kindergartners visited Hickory Lawn Dairy, where they saw calves, heifers, and cows, as well as the milking parlor. They also snuggled baby kittens and ended the trip with an ice cream treat.
  • Parkview kindergartners went to Kohler-Andrae State Park in May, where they went for a hike to do a nature scavenger hunt, played on the playground, ate lunch, played kickball (parents vs. kids), and enjoyed yard games.
  • Child care students took a field trip to Farm Wisconsin Discovery Center on April 28.

A big thank-you to our families, parent organizations, and other donors who help make these outings possible!
