Schools offer summer opportunities

Summer School and Squiggles & Wiggles preschool may have begun, but the Plymouth School District has additional activities to keep students learning, exploring, and moving during the summer months!

Youth athletic camps

Registration is coordinated by Community Education & Recreation, but all of the following camps except Tennis are operated by their respective Plymouth High School programs. Camps will be held at PHS, 125 S. Highland Ave.

Stars of Tomorrow Boys Basketball Camp

PHS coaches and players correct, teach, and help perfect the individual fundamentals of basketball. Camp consists of individual offensive and defensive techniques, as well as scrimmaging in small groups and competing in drills and contests.
Who: Boys who just finished grades 2-8
When: noon to 1:30 p.m. (grades 5-8) or 1:45 to 3:15 p.m. (grades 2-4) Monday June 26 through Friday June 30
Where: PHS Gym
Fee: $45

Youth Football Camp

PHS football coaches cover game fundamentals, weight training and the development of speed, power and agility. 
Who: Students who just finished grades 4-7
When: 12:30 to 3 p.m. Monday July 10 through Wednesday July 12

Tennis Camp

Drills and coaching from veteran tennis players; equipment can be borrowed during the weeks of camp
Who: Students who just finished grades 1-7
When: July 10-13 and July 17-20; grades 1-3 from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m., grades 4-7 from 1:45 to 2:45 p.m.

Fee: $45 until July 3, then $55

Girls Volleyball Camp

BJ LeRoy and staff, who have more than 20 years of experience, will reinforce and perfect the individual fundamentals of volleyball. Camp also will cover game analysis and offensive and defensive techniques.
Who: Girls who just finished grades 6-10
When: July 17-20; grades 6-7 from 3 to 5 p.m., grades 8-10 from 6 to 8 p.m.
Where: Plymouth High School
Fee: $60, due July 14

Community Ed & Rec summer offerings

Community Ed & Rec also is offering opportunities for children and families this summer!

Friday Playgroup

All ages can enjoy area parks and commune with nature, other parents, and children at this parent-supervised free play. Shelters will be open in parks that have them.
Details: 9:30-11 a.m. 2nd & 4th Fridays through Aug. 11

FUNctional Kids Fitness

This new offering is geared toward ages 3-6, but parents & younger and/or older siblings are encouraged to participate. Participants will complete obstacle courses, work on balance activities, run races, and so much more! This is a fun opportunity for kids to move their bodies and burn energy in ways that can be hard to achieve at home.
Instructor: Heather Bassett, Certified Physical Trainer
Details: 12:45-1:30 p.m. Tuesdays June 20-Aug. 1 (except July 4) in the PHS Wrestling Room or PHS Multipurpose Facility (first class meets in the PHS Wrestling Room)
Fee: $15 until June 11, then $25
