Schools welcome guests

Many community members shared their time and expertise with Plymouth School District students this spring!

Elementary schools

  • A Dairy Ambassador came to Parkview to teach students about dairy, dairy products, how cows help produce milk, what it's like to live on a farm, and more.
  • Tina Henriksen, retired PHS teacher, has visited Fairview kindergarten weekly the last 2 years, spends time with us in the Fairview garden or indoors mainly in the area of science or social studies concepts. She has brought things in form her travels and is up for whatever is on the agenda.
  • Melina Knowles and Will Baus from Youth Services helped with the Fairview kindergarten.
  • Parent Jackie Koch helped with Fairview after-school clubs.

Riverview Middle School

  • Composer Rachael Holmes worked with the Eighth-Grade Band during class April 26. The students studied and performed her work “Trouble on the Trempealeau” in the final trimester; Ms. Holmes talked about her composition and her life as a composer, and gave valuable feedback on the students’ performance.

Plymouth High School

  • Dr. Scott Niederjohn, economics professor from Concordia University, visited Charlotte Anderson’s AP Macroeconomics classes to discuss the Federal Reserve, cryptocurrency, and other macroeconomic topics.
  • Michelle Klemme, a dairy management consultant from CP Feeds LLC, visited the PHS Vet Science class
  • PHS 2019 grads Hannah Held and Sydney Kalk spoke to HOSA (Future Health Professionals) members about occupational therapy, high school classes to take in preparation for a career in the field, and the program at Concordia University, where Hannah is completing a doctorate and Sydney Kalk a master’s degree.
  • Gloria Scharenbroch visited the Composition and Cultural Analysis class to share her Japanese heritage. Her granddaughter Kaitlyn thought it was important for the class to learn about life for immigrant families.
  • Veteran Derek Dubey visited the Composition and Cultural Analysis class to discuss his military journey and education. His cousin Alex Marquardt is a junior in the class.
