Plymouth School District Community Education & Recreation is offering Woodworking, an Around Our Town tour of Camo Quilt Project, and a new class called Real Estate for Home Buyers this winter!

Around Our Town: Camo Quilt Project

Community members ages 18+ are invited to join this field trips for adults to tour Camo Quilt Project, which supports troops serving overseas and veterans in nursing homes.
Details: 5:15pm Thu Jan 22 at 439 Factory St. in Plymouth
Fee: Free, but you must register in advance because space is limited

Woodworking

Build personal projects using tools in the PHS woods lab! New participants work closely with the instructor; experienced participants may work independently.
Instructor: Ralph Gunkel
Details: 5:30-8:30pm Tue Feb 3-Mar 24 at PHS Room C111 (Woodshop)
Fee: $90 (seniors* $72) through Jan 26, then $100 (seniors* $82) (plus the cost of materials used)

Real Estate for Home Buyers - NEW!

This workshop is designed to guide first-time homebuyers through every step of the home-purchasing process. The class will cover the basics of budgeting, understanding credit, mortgage loan options, down-payment assistance programs, and the preapproval process. Participants will learn what to expect during home showings, how to make a competitive offer, and the role of professionals such as real estate agents, lenders, home inspectors, appraisers, and title companies. Attendees will leave with the confidence and knowledge to move forward with their home search and able to make informed decisions with the help of a local lender and real estate agent.

Fee: Free, but you must register by Feb 2 so we know there is enough interest

*Senior rate is available to Plymouth School District residents ages 62 and above.

How do I register?

  • Online: If possible, please register online via MyRec, which carries no service fee and offers immediate confirmation. (You first will need to create a MyRec account, if you have not already done so; once we verify residency and approve the account, you can register for any of our offerings going forward.)
  • In person: You can register in our office, where we will help set up your MyRec account and can accept cash, check, and credit cards. Park in the visitor lot in front of Plymouth High School, 125 S. Highland Ave., and enter Door 18 on the south end of the building. Our office is open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays (though closed Dec. 24-Jan. 2 during Winter Break).
  • By mail: While MyRec registration is preferred, you still can print a registration form to mail with a check to Community Ed & Rec, 125 S. Highland Ave., Plymouth WI 53073.
