Seventh-grade band students at Riverview Middle School have been invited by the State of Wisconsin and the Wisconsin Music Educators Association to perform as part of the state’s annual Capitol Concert Series.
Riverview, one of only 10 school-age music ensembles chosen from across the state for this prestigious honor, will perform at noon Tuesday March 3. The performance, held in celebration of National Music in Our Schools Month, is free and open to the public.
Mike Fedyszyn, Riverview band teacher, said students will remember the day for a long time. “This performance is a great opportunity for our students to instill a culture of excellence, pride, dedication, and happiness through music in our community,” he said.
Riverview Principal Tom Dorgan said he couldn’t be more proud of the young musicians. “Performing at the Capitol Concert is an exciting milestone for our 7th-Grade Band,” Mr. Dorgan said. “This experience reflects the hard work, preparation, and teamwork our students demonstrate each day.”
