Many community members shared their time and expertise with Plymouth School District students this winter!

Elementary schools

  • Plymouth High School FFA members visited second-grade classes Dec. 19 to talk about crops and commodities from different states and to share a string cheese snack.
  • Janis from Bullard's Dental visited Parkview 4K and 5K to teach the students about dental health. She sang songs and taught them how to take care of their teeth.

Riverview Middle School

  • Alex Blum, an engineer with NASA experience (and Riverview teacher Courtney Greenwald's cousin), met with fifth-graders Jan. 13 to inspire the next generation of scientists and explorers.
  • Barbara Drewry-Zimmerman of Drewry Farms presented to the fifth-grade team led by Amanda Parks and Rachel Moore about maple tree tapping. Students learned about the history of tree tapping, saw different tools involved in the process, and got hands-on experience tapping trees in City Park. As a sweet treat, they sampled maple candies.

Plymouth High School

  • Retired Packer LeRoy Butler visited PHS on Dec. 2 to kick off the annual NHS Food Drive with an all-school assembly.
  • The Steinhardt family golden retriever, Hank, visited the Companion Animals class so students could learn about proper animal handling and restraints.
  • Michelle Klemme, dairy management consultant with CP Feeds, visited the Veterinary Science class.

District

  • Ted Neitzke of CESA 6 talked to district staff during the Feb. 17 Professional Development Day.
