Free child developmental screenings available
Free developmental screenings are being offered soon for area children ages 6 months through 4 years, thanks to a community partnership.
Screenings will take place from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday Oct. 8 and from 8 a.m. to noon Friday Oct. 9 at Generations, 1500 Douglas Drive. Screenings are free, but registration is required by Sept. 25.
Screenings take about an hour and cover language, problem solving, personal and social skills, and fine and large motor skills. (Hearing and vision screening also may be available; call 920-892-6706 for more information.) Extensive information on parenting and community resources will be available.
Screenings are coordinated by the Sheboygan County Community Partnership for Children with support from Family Resource Center, Plymouth School District, Birth to 3, and Family Connections.
The benefits of screening young children include:
- Recognition of developmental achievements
- Support for school-readiness skills
- Early detection of potential developmental delays
