The Plymouth High School Drama Department is presenting “Almost, Maine,” a series of loosely connected tales about love, each with a compelling couple at its center – and its own touch of sorcery.
This play, written by John Cariani, is set on a deeply cold and magical Midwinter Night as the citizens of Almost, Maine – not organized enough for a town, too populated for a wilderness – experience the life-altering power of the human heart.
The storyline is propelled by the mystical energy of the aurora borealis. The humorous, plain-spoken, thoughtful, and sincere characters include:
During the course of the play, relationships end, begin, and change beyond recognition, as strangers become friends, friends become lovers, and lovers turn into strangers.
The PHS production is directed by drama teacher Jack Colombo, with Scott Bunyea as the scenic designer and tech director, and Kay Magnus as costume designer.
Performances will begin at 7 p.m. nightly from Thursday Nov. 7 through Saturday Nov. 9, with a matinee at 2 p.m. Sunday Nov. 10, in the school auditorium, 125 S. Highland Ave. General-admission tickets are $9 and are available in the PHS Office (enter Door 1G), as well as at the door.
