Plymouth High School student Landon Ross took fifth in the nation in a recent Microsoft Office PowerPoint 365 competition!
Landon was named Wisconsin State Champion for PowerPoint 365 earlier this year, which qualified him to travel to Orlando, Fla., from June 16 to 19 to represent the state at the 2024 Microsoft Office Specialist U.S. National Championship, a national competition that tests the skills of about 200 finalists on Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
During the competitive event, finalists are given a printed copy of a document, spreadsheet, or presentation to recreate along with printed instructions and digital assets. They then were scored according to the accuracy of the recreation compared to the original.
Landon, who just finished his freshman year, was in the PHS Computer Applications class taught by business teacher Wendy Nasgovitz, a self-paced course that allows students to work independently to master Microsoft Office software packages. After working through learning materials, students take the relevant Microsoft Office Specialist Industry Certification Exam(s).
Landon, who also took 8th place in the state for Microsoft Excel 365, was one of several PHS students recognized at the state level this school year:
