Free developmental screenings are being offered soon for area children ages 6 months through 5 years, thanks to a community partnership.
The benefits of screening young children include celebrating their development, supporting school-readiness skills, and early detection of potential developmental delays.
Screenings will take place from 3 to 6 p.m. Thursday Sept. 26 and from 8 to 11 a.m. Friday Sept. 27 at Generations, 1500 Douglas Drive. Screenings are free, but online pre-registration is required by Tuesday Sept. 24.
Screenings cover communication, problem solving, personal-social interaction, and fine and large motor skills. (Hearing and vision screening also may be available; call 920-892-6706 for more information.) In addition, extensive information on parenting and community resources will be available at the screenings.
The screenings are conducted by the Sheboygan County Community Partnership for Children with support from Plymouth School District, Sheboygan County Public Health Department, Sheboygan County Head Start, Birth to Three, Progressive Beginnings Rehabilitation Specialists, Family Resource Center of Sheboygan County, Family Connections, and Sheboygan Area School District Early Learning Center.
