Looking back at PHS in 2014

This year marks the 10th anniversary of the graduation of the Plymouth High School Class of 2014. Here is a look back at their senior year!

Homecoming

Homecoming Week 2013 had an “Under the Sea” theme and featured:

  • Boys’ volleyball tournament and girls’ powder puff football games
  • Tug-of-war competition throughout the week
  • Dress-up days, including class color day, beach day, sailor/pirate day, Hawaiian day, and Panthers day
  • Homecoming Court presentation and pep rally Friday afternoon
  • Parade through downtown Friday afternoon
  • Football victory on Friday evening
  • Homecoming Dance on Saturday

The arts

Performing opportunities included:

  • Fall play “The Pirate Show”
  • One act “The Odyssey,” which won 4 State awards
  • Spring musical “Singin’ in the Rain”
  • Amp Rats drama class presentation of “Pride and Prejudice”
  • Jolly Pranksters comedy team
  • Jazz Band 1, Jazz Band 2, German Band, Concert Band, Symphonic Band, Wind Ensemble
  • Men’s Choir, Women’s Choir, Swing Choir, Concert Choir
  • Solo & Ensemble music festivals

Other highlights

  • PHS adopted a cum laude system for graduates, replacing the designation of valedictorians.
  • PHS students traveled to Germany during the summer of 2013 and to Costa Rica in the summer of 2014, and welcomed a contingent from Colombia in October and another from Thailand in May. The PHS Band performed at Walt Disney World in November.
  • PHS hosted 14 exchange students from Chile, Dominican Republic, Egypt, Finland, France, Germany (3), Italy, Japan, Norway, Russia, Spain, and Turkey for the year.
