When Parkview Elementary School students return to school, they will have an awesome new addition to their playground!
“We are most excited that the playground project is complete in time for the start of the school year and for as many families as possible that helped fundraise for it to be able to utilize the space,” said Leah Murray, treasurer of Parents and Teachers for Kids, the Parkview parent-teacher organization and driving force behind the project.
“I cannot wait to see the smiling faces and giggles as the kids come back to school and see what their parents and community did for them,” said Parkview Principal Todd Hunt. “Thanks to the Plymouth community, including the Parkview staff, for supporting all of the various fundraising events, which led to this finally happening.”
The new structure features an inclusive play space with lots of climbing options, more interactive areas, and two slides.
It replaces equipment that was becoming more and more difficult to repair because of rust and the availability of parts. “The existing structure had served Parkview well for many years, but had reached the end of its days,” Mrs. Murray said.
PTK raised $19,974 for the project, setting aside money from its various fundraisers after meeting regular budget needs (such as funding field trips, school events, and classroom support). The Plymouth School District provided an additional $25,000 for the playground equipment, as well as $5,525 in woodchips.
Work to remove old equipment and prepare the site were donated by the Radzinski and Noffke families.

“We are grateful for the community support and the help and contributions from Parkview families,” Mrs. Murray said. “Whether they fundraised, attended events, made direct donations, partnered with us for specific project needs, or helped come up with new ideas when we needed them – without their help, the playground replacement project would not have been possible.”
