New Plymouth School District Superintendent Scott Stier wants people to know he is incredibly excited to be here.
“I have always felt that this community is a special place, and I feel very fortunate to be in this position,” he said. “I look forward to working with all stakeholders to ensure that we are doing our very best for our students, staff, and the families of Plymouth.”
He is particularly excited about the connection between the school district and the community. “This connection may be something that is easily overlooked, but it is a unique strength of this community – and a significant asset,” he said. “This relationship leads to great experiences for our students, and ultimately benefits all of us.”
Mr. Stier said he looks forward to meeting students, staff, families, and community members. “I am a person who focuses on building strong relationships with others, and I have a great opportunity to do just that in the days and months ahead,” he said. “Maximizing the opportunities for our students will take all of us working as one, and I look forward to helping lead that charge.”
He plans to focus initially on building relationships and learning how things are done in the Plymouth School District. “We'll then begin mapping a course to continue maximizing the performance and opportunities for our kids,” he said.
Mr. Stier replaces Dan Mella, who retired June 30 after 21 years with the Plymouth School District and 32 years in education.
Like Mr. Mella, the new superintendent enjoys the outdoors and spending time with his family. “We can often be found on the water either boating or fishing, and enjoy hiking and spending time in the deer woods,” he said.
Mr. Stier had been principal of Kewaskum High School since 2015. He began his career in education as a science teacher and coach at Badger Middle School in West Bend from 1996 to 2008, then served as athletic director at West Bend West High School from 2008 to 2015.
He holds a bachelor of science degree from UW-Eau Claire, a master of education degree from National Louis University, principal and director of instruction certification from Concordia University, and superintendent licensure from UW-Oshkosh.
