Meet the 2024 PHS class exemplar: Mylee Nickel

Plymouth High School senior Mylee Nickel said the biggest things she’ll take from PHS are the relationships and friendships she has made during the past four years.
 
“PHS has blessed me with so many amazing people, who I know I will be able to count on as mentors for the rest of my life,” she said.

Mylee was chosen as class exemplar by a panel of adults, based on stellar academic work, extensive extracurricular involvement, and leadership skills.

As class exemplar, she receives the $5,000 Rhyan Family Class Exemplar Scholarship. Mr. Rhyan, a former Board of Education president, was a strong proponent of the class exemplar designation, and memorials given in his name contributed to a scholarship fund administered by the Plymouth Education Foundation.

Mylee plans to talk about why the school is named Plymouth Comprehensive High School in the remarks she will give as class exemplar during PHS Commencement Exercises on Sunday June 2.

“I am super excited to give my speech, and I am grateful to the Rhyan family for such a generous scholarship,” she said.

While at PHS, Mylee was involved in WeACT, tennis, and dance team. She organized the Ugandan Child Surgery Fundraiser for WeACT, and served as class vice president the past two years.

Among her favorite classes at PHS was Advanced Placement Statistics. “I loved learning the about the concept of statistics, and Mr. Daniels made it really fun by doing lots of interactive projects, and somehow always incorporating treats,” she said.

In the fall, Mylee plans to attend UW-Stevens Point to double major in marketing and business administration, with a minor in Spanish. “I hope to someday work my way up to an executive marketing position for a non-profit,” she said.
