The Plymouth High School chapter of the National Honor Society held its 88th annual induction ceremony May 1 in the school auditorium.
The chapter inducted 41 new students and re-elected 42 seniors. New members must have at least a 3.7 grade-point average over five semesters and complete a portfolio, which is reviewed by a faculty council. Each member is expected to do 15 hours of service a year.
During the ceremony, PHS Principal Joe Brandl outlined the four key principles of NHS – scholarship, leadership, service, and character – and later formally accepted the new inductees.
PHS substitute teacher Theresa Martell, chosen by NHS members as their guest speaker, gave the students three tips for finding a good work-life balance:
National Honor Society was established in 1921, and the PHS chapter was founded in 1936. This year’s ceremony was conducted by NHS officers President Cadence Seymour, Vice-President Owen Plate, Secretary Brielle Seymour, and Treasurer Pria Joseph. PHS math teacher Jack Daniels serves as NHS advisor.
