What do we mean by comprehensive?

Posted February 5, 2024

Have you ever wondered about the “Comprehensive” in Plymouth Comprehensive High School? We’ve put together this slideshow to explain what it means.

Open Enrollment

Families exploring their options through open enrollment are encouraged to consider the Plymouth School District, which is just the right size to offer personal attention along with a wealth of opportunities!

Wisconsin's inter-district public school open enrollment program allows parents of children in 4K through 12th grade to apply for their children to attend school districts other than the one in which they reside. There is no tuition cost to parents who opt for open enrollment, though families may be charged the same fees as resident students.

This year’s open enrollment period is Monday Feb. 5 through Tuesday April 30. The state encourages online applications at https://dpi.wi.gov/open-enrollment.

4K Enrollment

Children who will be 4 years old on or before Sept. 1 are eligible for 4-year-old kindergarden, which features play-based learning in a classroom setting four half-days a week. The nurturing environment is designed to foster independence, encourage creativity, provide for social growth, and promote new learning.

Classes are available at all three public elementary schools, with morning 4K from 8:45 a.m. to noon and afternoon 4K from 12:30 to 3:45 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Learn more: Plymouth School District 4K presentation

Onsite child care is offered by Berry Branch, operated by Community Education & Recreation, which is open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays opposite the half-day 4K schedule, as well as all day when 4K is not in session, including Fridays, no-school days, and summer break. To enroll a child in 4K

• Families new to the district should begin by requesting enrollment access.
• Families that already have a Skyward Family Access account with the Plymouth School District (i.e. for an older child) should log into Skyward Family Access and select "New Student Enrollment."

We make every effort to provide placement information (school location and morning/afternoon) by June 1 to families who have enrolled by May 1. However, we will continue to accept enrollments through the summer.

4K Info Night

Families of potential 4-year-old kindergarten students are invited to our 4K Info Night on Thursday Feb. 8 at Parkview Elementary School, 500 Parkview Drive. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m., with a brief presentation at 5:45 p.m. Attendees can meet 4K teachers, see a 4K classroom, learn about onsite childcare provided by Berry Branch, and enroll for 4K.

Plymouth 3K

Plymouth 3K, offered by Community Education & Recreation since January 2022, features a DPI-certified teacher who holds a bachelor’s degree in elementary education, language activities that align with the district 4K curriculum, age-appropriate social and emotional development, and fun and play-based learning opportunities.

Students must be potty-trained and at least 3 years old as of Sept. 1, 2024. Parents can choose either Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday classes, which will meet from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. – half an hour longer! – at Horizon Elementary School, 411 S. Highland Ave. Classes will begin Sept. 9/10 and end May 21/22, with no classes during the weeks of Nov. 25, Dec. 23, Dec. 30, and March 24.

Onsite child care is available through Mulberry Bush, operated by Community Ed & Rec, which is open from 6 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. weekdays year round. Learn more: Child Care webpage
