Next Free Film is ‘Bitterbrush’

Posted October 23, 2023

Plymouth School District Community Education & Recreation is showing the Free Film “Bitterbrush” in October.

This unrated documentary follows two range riders as they spend the summer herding cattle in remote Idaho. Totally off the grid with only their dogs as companions, these young women brave inclement weather and perilous work conditions while pondering their futures. This is a portrait of friendship, life transitions, and skilled work in the isolated and beautiful landscape of the American West. Run time is 90 minutes.

The movie will begin at 6 p.m. Monday Oct. 30 in the Amphitheatre (note new location) at Plymouth High School, 125 S. Highland Ave. (enter Door 1). Please note that food and drink are not allowed in the auditorium.

Admission is free, but register by Friday Oct. 27 so Community Ed & Rec knows there is enough interest to show the film. You can register online via MyRec, by emailing commedrec@plymouth.k12.wi.us, or by calling 920-892-5068.

Mark your calendar: “Happiness for Beginners” (PG-13) will wrap up the fall Free Film series with a showing at 6pm Wednesday Nov. 29. Based on a novel by Katherine Center, this is the tale of a newly divorced woman who joins a quirky group of strangers on a wilderness survival course for the “Adventure of a Lifetime.” Hoping to learn how to live – and love – again, she discovers that sometimes you have to get really lost in order to find yourself.
