National School Lunch Week to include free meal

The Plymouth School District is celebrating National School Lunch Week and Farm to School Month in a variety of ways!

Monday Oct. 9: Free lunch for all students!

Elementary menu: Chicken Quesadilla, Yogurt Parfait, or PB & J
Riverview menu: Teriyaki Chicken Rice Bowl, Assorted Pizza, or Yogurt Parfait
PHS menu: Jumbo Corn Dog, Mini Cheese Calzones, Hawaiian Pizza, or BBQ Rib Sandwich

Tuesday Oct. 10: Lucky Tray Day!

Students can redeem coupons hidden under select lunch trays for prizes.

Elementary menu: Homestyle Chicken Nuggets, Cheese & Crackers, or Breakfast Egg Sandwich
Riverview menu: Homestyle Chicken Nuggets or Big Daddy's Cheese Pizza
PHS menu: Homestyle Chicken Nuggets, Cheese Pizza, or Sub Your Way

Wednesday Oct. 11: National Take Your Parents to Lunch Day!

Parents/guardians are invited to eat lunch with their children. All visitor meals will be $1. (Families are asked to RSVP to their school office by 3 p.m. Tuesday Oct. 10 so that Food Service can plan accordingly.)

Elementary menu: Sausage Pizza, Cheesy Bread, or Turkey & Cheese Snack Box
Riverview menu: Crispy Chicken Leg & Side of MacNCheese, Sausage Pizza, or Hard Boiled Egg Snack Box
PHS menu: Korean BBQ Meatball Bowl (developed with AFS students during last year’s Around the World in 80 Trays celebration!), Pizza Dippers, or Chicken Cordon Bleu Sandwich

Thursday Oct. 12: Apple Crunch Day!

All students and staff can enjoy free fresh apples purchased from Log Cabin Orchard in Plymouth. (Volunteers are needed to help hand out apples; contact Caren Johnson, Food Service director, at 920-892-2661, Ext 1083 if interested.)

Also Thursday, all staff lunches are only $1! (Please make sure your account is current.)

Elementary menu: Cheeseburger, Hard Boiled Egg Snack Box, or Taco Salad
Riverview menu: Cheeseburger, Bosco Sticks, or Taco Salad
PHS menu: Taco Salad Bowl, Veggie Pizza, Pepperoni Pizza, or Sloppy Joe

National School Lunch Week was created by President John F. Kennedy in 1962 to promote the importance of a healthy school lunch in a child’s life and the impact it has inside and outside of the classroom. The National School Lunch Program serves nearly 30 million children every school day.

Free lunches for emergency workers

The Plymouth School District is grateful to those who help keep us all safe and is inviting on-duty emergency workers to eat free at its schools any day!

This includes Plymouth Police officers, Sheboygan County Sheriff deputies, Orange Cross emergency medical technicians, etc.

Those wishing to eat at a school on a particular day are asked to contact its office by 8 a.m. so Food Service can plan accordingly.
