Community fitness & aquatic classes begin soon

Plymouth School District Community Education & Recreation is offering two free Fitness Launches and 17 group fitness classes this fall!

Registration opens at 10 a.m. Wednesday Aug. 30. An early registration discount of $10 is available through Sept. 10 on these classes, plus a senior discount of 20 percent for school district residents ages 62 and up.

Aquatic classes

Daytime Aqua
This shallow-water class is excellent for flexibility, range of motion, and muscle toning.

Fee: $63 (seniors* $50) until Sept. 10, then $73 ($60)

Daytime Deep
Held with Daytime Aqua; you can follow that workout, do your own, or swim laps.
Details: 9:15-10am Tuesdays & Thursdays Sept. 14-Dec. 19 (except Oct. 31-Nov. 30) in the PHS Pool
Fee: $41 (seniors* $32) until Sept. 10, then $51 ($42)

Deep Water
This motivational class uses water resistance for a great workout. You must be comfortable in deep water. You can use noodles or cuffs.

Fee: $83 (seniors* $66) until Sept. 10, then $93 ($76); optional: $40 for water cuffs as a belt or on ankles

Water Walking
This self-paced, self-directed class in shallow water is perfect for those with limited mobility. Just walk at your own pace! Held at the same time as Deep Water, so help is nearby.

Fee: $54 (seniors* $43) until Sept. 10, then $64 ($53)

20/20
Quick paced shallow aerobics for 20 minutes followed by 20 minutes of hand buoys and noodles. Your feet will be off the floor for extended time.

Fitness classes

All-Levels Yoga
Blend breath and movement to improve flexibility, muscle tone, & balance. Perfect for beginners as well as yoga enthusiasts.

Les Mills BodyPump
This science-backed, full-body barbell workout to great music sculpts and strengthens each muscle group. Set your weight on the barbell to achieve 1,000 repetitions or more each class!

Balance & Functional Movement
Progressive exercises strengthen the core, and improve balance and flexibility. The last 15 minutes features mat work on the floor.

30-Minute Circuit Blast
This quick strength and conditioning workout is a great complement to cardiovascular exercise, using accessory equipment and body weight to challenge and tone your body.

Cycle and Core (New)
This high-energy cycling class combines a 30-minute heart-pounding ride followed by 15 minutes of targeted strength training for your core with varying abdominal and low-back exercises.

Hatha Yoga (New)
This 6-week class explores the spiritual and physical aspects of yoga practice. Class will include asana (poses), chanting, pranayama (breath work), and meditation. No previous yoga experience needed.

Intro to Jiu-Jitsu
This introduction to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu covers the basic positions, movements, & techniques of this grappling sport in a safe and controlled environment. Stay for Open Mat (below) to get more practice time! Ages 16+

Jiu-Jitsu Open Mat
Open to those already familiar with Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and additional time for those in the intro class to drill techniques, ask questions, and get in extra grappling time in a controlled environment.

Outdoor Bootcamp
Combine a series of bodyweight exercises with high- and low-intensity intervals and movements. Have fun while you sweat through individual and team competitions and leave feeling empowered.

Pound
Use lightly weighted drumsticks for cardio, conditioning, & strength training to great music!

Total Body Training
Increase heart rate with low- to medium- impact intervals using weights, bosu balls, resistance bands, and stability balls, while strengthening the muscles of the core.

Spinterval
Enjoy an endless variety of intervals of high cardio bouts on the bike and strength exercises off the bike to improve strength and endurance.

How do I register?

If possible, please register online via MyRec, which carries no service fees and offers immediate confirmation. (You first will need to create a MyRec account, if you have not already done so; once we verify residency and approve the account, you can register for any of our offerings going forward.)

You also can register in our office, where we will help you set up a MyRec account and can accept cash, check, and credit cards. Our office is open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday; park in the visitor lot in front of Plymouth High School, 125 S. Highland Ave., and enter Door 18 of the addition.

While MyRec registration is preferred, you still can print a registration form to mail with a check to Community Ed & Rec, 125 S. Highland Ave., Plymouth WI 53073.
