Brat fry to raise funds for Parkview playground

Posted August 28, 2023

Plymouth Rotary Club and Parents and Teachers for Kids are hosting a brat fry and bake sale, with part of the proceeds benefiting the Parkview Elementary School playground project.

The fundraiser will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday Sept. 1 at Plymouth Piggly Wiggly, 1411 Eastern Ave.

PTK is raising funds to replace playground equipment that is outdated and deteriorating.

“The existing structure has been repaired multiple times through the years, but due to its current condition and age a new structure would be a much-needed upgrade to the playground to offer a safe and inclusive play space for all students,” said Principal Todd Hunt.

PTK has set a goal of $50,000 to replace the main structure; any additional funds would go toward independent play pieces. The group hopes to meet its fundraising goal by December so that equipment can be installed in the spring.

Additional fundraisers will be held during the first half of the school year, and Parkview has applied for several community grants that are pending. PTK also is grateful to have received generous donations from several local businesses and civic groups.

“We are very excited to do this for our students at Parkview,” PTK noted. “We are making every effort to reduce the burden for families at Parkview, but we are going to need their help with the school fundraisers we have planned September to December.”
