Spring field trips extend student learning

Plymouth School District students enjoyed many field trips this spring!

A big thank-you to our families, parent organizations, and other donors who help make these outings possible!

Plymouth High School

  • PHS Softball played games and saw the sights April 9-13 in Nashville.
  • Gifted and talented students attended the CESA 7 Arts & Creativity Retreat on April 15 at Rahr Memorial School Forest, where they lead a session on drama and improv.
  • Art students visited Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design on April 28.
  • Drama Club went to UW-Milwaukee on May 2 to see the play “The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime.”
  • Physics students conducted experiments at Six Flags Great America on May 9.
  • PHS Companion Animals class visited Humane Society of Sheboygan County on May 22.
  • AP U.S. History classes taught by Brad Smuddle visited Plymouth Historical Society Museum.

Riverview Middle School

  • Gifted and talented students in grades 7-8 attended the CESA 7 Arts & Creativity Retreat on April 15 at Rahr Memorial School Forest, where they visited the school forest and choose a workshop from among the following: Squash Journals, Creative Writing, Drama & Improv, and Papermaking.
  • Seventh-Grade Band students visited UW-Oshkosh on May 1 for a clinic with Dr. Devin Otto, director of bands, and had the chance to sit side by side with UW-Oshkosh music students.
  • Eighth-Grade Band students performed at the Beyond the Notes Music Festival held May 22 at the Kalahari Resort in Wisconsin Dells, one of more than 80 ensembles from across the Midwest selected to perform at the event.
  • Eighth-grade gifted-and-talented students visited St. Norbert College for its Great Decisions program, which featured the topic “American Policy in the Middle East.”

Elementary schools

  • Fairview 4th-graders attended the Sippin' and Sappin' experience March 11 at Maywood, where they learned about maple syrup, wildlife, and the life of a lumberjack.
  • Fairview kindergartners visited the Food Science & Agriculture Center at Plymouth High School on April 22 to plant seeds in the greenhouse.
  • Gifted and talented 4th-graders attended a writing retreat at UW-Green Bay in early May, where they attended workshops including Viewing Nature Through the Lenses of One Word, creating a cover for their notebooks, One Word Creature Shop, Illustrations with published illustrator Robb Mommaerts, and Generating Ideas for Writing.
  • Fairview 4th-graders visited Wade House on May 7, where they immerse themselves in Wisconsin history and toured the carriage museum, blacksmith shop, sawmill, and travel accommodations.
  • More than 300 elementary students visited Fisher Valley Farms on May 8, with support from Plymouth FFA.
  • Parkview 4th-graders visited Camp Y-koda in the middle of May for geocaching, canoeing, kayaking, wall climbing, and archery.
  • Horizon 4th-graders visited Plymouth High School on May 16 for a variety of hands-on science activities with PHS students.
  • Horizon 4th-graders visited the Wisconsin Capitol and Madison Zoo on May 31.
  • Parkview third-graders raised rainbow trout in the classroom, then had a release day at Memorial Park in Cascade, also attended by the DNR, Trouts Unlimited, and classroom volunteers.
