Field trips extend student learning

Posted April 21, 2025

Plymouth School District students enjoyed many field trips this winter!

A big thank-you to our families, parent organizations, and other donors who help make these outings possible!

Plymouth High School

  • PHS sent 72 students to Costa Rica from March 19-28. The group spent time in Alajuela, Limón, and Guápiles. They visited La Paz Waterfall, Sloth Center Baldi Hot Springs, Hanging Bridges, and Cahuita National Park. They also took cooking classes, did a zipline tour, took a chocolate tour, went snorkeling, and attended a program about reforestation.
  • PHS Choir members traveled to California from March 25-29, where they performed in a cathedral as part of a Choirs of America event. Students and chaperones also visited Santa Monica Pier, Universal Studios, Warner Bros Studio Tour, La Brea Tar Pits, Hollywood Highland/Walk of Fame, Hard Rock Café, and ended with a dinner and dance on a private yacht.
  • About 20 students from WeACT, GSA, and Peers for Peers went to the United Against Hate summit in McFarland in February. They joined more than 500 students to listen to a speaker talk about his membership in notorious hate groups and how he found a way out and a path of truth and acceptance. Students learned how to bring lessons of unity and anti-bullying to their schools.
  • PHS students attended World Cinema Day in Madison on April 4.
  • Hi-Lights staff members attended Journalism Day at Fiserv Forum on April 1.

Riverview Middle School

  • Seventh-grade choir students went to Rocky Knoll on March 20 to sing American folk songs for residents, who then taught the students different verses of various songs. This communal learning experience for both young and old was funded by a Peter R. Marsh Grant.
  • In early March, eighth-graders attended a performance of "Label-less," a musical about overcoming labels, being your true self and accepting others for who they are. Tickets were provided by the Kohler Foundation, and transportation was funded by an anonymous donor.
  • Fifth-graders explored Discovery World in February.
  • Gifted & Talented students went to Fond du Lac in February for a face-to-face meeting in conjunction with their online courses.

Elementary schools

  • Gifted & Talented 4th-graders attended a STEAM retreat Feb 21 at the National Railroad Museum in Green Bay.
  • Students visited Altitude in Appleton on March 26
