Plymouth High School has won Fields of Excellence Awards from Pioneer Athletics for the 9th year in a row – and this year PHS was one of only two entities nationwide to also receive scholarships.
The PHS baseball, softball, and soccer fields were among 79 fields nationwide to receive 2024 awards; PHS is one of only three schools to have three fields so honored.
Thanks to the efforts of district groundskeeper Ryan Rusch and his crew, PHS has been recognized every year since 2016. However, this is the first year the school has been awarded a $1,000 scholarship from Pioneer to be given on behalf of the school grounds crew. PHS is splitting its award to give $500 each to a boy athlete and to a girl athlete who will be attending technical school.
Pioneer is the nation’s leading manufacturer of athletic field marking paint and equipment. It created the Fields of Excellence Award Program in 1998 to honor outstanding athletic fields and the hardworking crews who diligently maintain them.
