Two PHS students earn Microsoft State recognition

Posted February 17, 2025

Congratulations to Plymouth High School students Nolan Wiskirchen and Ryan Gahagan, who placed in the Top 10 in Wisconsin during the Fall Qualifier of the Microsoft Office Specialist U.S. National Championship!

Nolan took seventh in both Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word, and Ryan Gahagan took ninth in Microsoft Excel (Microsoft 365 Apps).

Nolan and Ryan are in the PHS Computer Applications class taught by PHS business teacher Wendy Nasgovitz. This self-paced course allows students to work independently to master Microsoft Office software packages, then take the relevant Microsoft Office Specialist Industry Certification Exam(s).

Nolan and Ryan join a growing list of PHS students recognized by Microsoft at the state level:

  • Claire Nelson: Wisconsin State Champion for Microsoft Excel and sixth in the state for PowerPoint in Fall 2023
  • Dylan Youmans: 7th in the state for Microsoft Excel in Fall 2023
  • Landon Ross: Wisconsin State Champion in Microsoft Office 365 PowerPoint in Spring 2024 and fifth in the nation in 2024; also 8th in the state for Microsoft Excel 365 in Spring 2024
  • Dillon Krupp: 4th in the state for Microsoft PowerPoint 365 in Spring 2024
