This year marks the 50th anniversary of the graduation of the Plymouth High School Class of 1974. Here is a look back at its senior year!
Homecoming
Homecoming 1973 featured:
- Hallway and window decorating
- High school open house Friday afternoon
- Homecoming Court, with a crowning ceremony Friday night in the PHS Auditorium
- Pep rally featuring cheers and skits, following by a burning of letters spelling HUSKIES outside school
- Parade through downtown Saturday morning
- Pre-game and halftime shows by the PHS Band, featuring its new color guard and the Pantherettes pom-pom squad
- Football game victory over New Holstein Saturday afternoon on the Riverview athletic field
- Dance from 8:30-11:30 p.m. Saturday in the PHS cafeteria (tickets $1.50 each)
Sports
Interscholastic sports for boys included:
- Baseball (regional champ)
- Basketball
- Cross Country
- Football
- Golf (conference champ)
- Swimming
- Tennis
- Track & Field (3 events to State)
- Wrestling
Interscholastic sports for girls included:
- Basketball (conference champ)
- Track & Field (4 events to State)
- Volleyball
Girls also could be part of the Girls Athletic Association, which offered a variety of intramural activities.
The arts
Performing opportunities included:
- Concert Band, Jazz Band
- Girls Chorus, Mixed Chorus, Swing Choir, Girls Ensemble
- One-act play “Thurber Carnival” (which advanced to State)
- Senior class play “My Sister Eileen” in November
- Christmas Band Concert in December
- Musical “No, No, Nanette” in April
- Solo & Ensemble Contest in the spring
- Spring Band & Chorus Concert in May
- Cabaret
