Community autumn fitness classes begin soon

Plymouth School District Community Education & Recreation is offering a free Fitness Launch and 11 group fitness classes this autumn!

Fitness Launch

Join us for a free opportunity to sample fitness classes, try the latest Les Mills BodyPump release with new music & choreography, and meet class instructors. After you’re done with a class, enjoy socializing in the hallway with a cup of Starbucks coffee and post-workout snacks. Bring a friend!

Fee: Free, but please bring a deodorant donation for the PHS Panther ’Fits Closet.

Fitness classes

An early registration discount of $10 is available through Sunday Sept. 8 on these classes, plus a senior discount of 20 percent for school district residents ages 62 and up. One more way to save: Register for a year membership to the Community Fitness Center, then receive 10 percent off group fitness classes.

Les Mills BodyPump™

BodyPump is a total-body strength workout that will shape and tone all major muscle groups, increase core strength, improve bone health, and leave you feeling strong and fit! The low-weight, high-repetition training of BodyPump™ is based on a formula called The Rep Effect™, which utilizes time under tension and fatigue to generate muscular adaptation. The fusion of science-backed moves, motivating instructors, and great music helps you achieve much more than you would on your own.

30-Minute Essential Fitness

Experience a dynamic blend of strength and conditioning designed to elevate your fitness level, whether you're just starting out or an advanced athlete. In 30 minutes, combine bodyweight exercises with diverse accessory equipment to sculpt and tone your muscles, while boosting your metabolism and enhancing calorie burn throughout the day. Cardio Kickboxing

Kickboxing pairs with cardio to ensure a sweaty, fun workout! Learn the basics of punching, kicking, knees and elbows in a safe and controlled environment as you work on mastering introductory skills.

Empower: Women's Weightlifting Class - NEW

Join an empowering journey into strength training designed specifically for women. Whether you're new to lifting or looking to refine your technique, this class offers a supportive environment to build confidence and strength. Learn to use fixed-range-of-motion-machines, cable machines, squat racks, and free weights. Embrace the benefits of weightlifting – improved metabolism, increased bone density, and enhanced muscle tone – while fostering a sense of community with like-minded women. FUNctional Dance

Enjoy a full body workout while having a total body blast! Enjoy music you already know and love as well as new-to-you tunes, and learn some easy-to-follow steps that are sure to get your heart rate up, muscles stronger, and smile bigger. No rhythm necessary, just the willingness to show up, have fun, move!

Qigong - NEW

Learn Qigong, developed in ancient China as part of traditional Chinese medicine. Qigong helps to improve your health and bring serenity to your mind and spirit. No previous experience necessary. Comfortable clothes. Shoes optional. An exercise mat is recommended.

Stretch & Core

This high-energy class features a 30-minute heart-pounding ride followed by 15 minutes of targeted strength training for your core with varying abdominal and low-back exercises.

Total Body Training

Increase heart rate with low- to medium- impact intervals using weights, bosu balls, resistance bands, and stability balls, while strengthening the muscles of the core.

Vinyasa Yoga

An all-levels yoga class focusing on breath and movement.  We challenge the body by toning muscle and building core strength through a sequence of poses.  Some yoga experience is recommended, although modifications will be suggested. Please bring a mat if you have one.

Gentle Yoga

A yoga class focusing on calming the mind and body. We slowly and mindfully move through poses, emphasizing breath and alignment, building core muscle, and relieving stress. Appropriate for all levels. Please bring a mat if you have one.

Fitness Center

The Fitness Center in the addition on the south end of PHS is open to community members! The facility, which opened in 2019, features a Matrix circuit, extensive free weights, and many types of cardio machines. An adult staff member is available to answer questions about machine use.

• 5am-7:30am weekdays
• 3:30pm-7pm weekdays
• 7-11am Saturdays

Fees:
Individual district resident: $25/month, $135/half-year, $240/year
Couple (2 adults at same district address): $195/half-year, $340/ year
Senior (district resident age 62+): $20/month, $90/half-year, $155/year
Senior couple (district residents at least one of whom is age 62+): $125/half-year, $215/ year
District resident under age 23 or active military: $50/year
Non-resident: $35/month, $180/half-year, $315/year
Punch card: $40 for 10 visits
Daily rate: $5

Fitness Center Orientations – NEW!
Tour & orientation offered 10:30-11:30am 3rd Saturday of each month.
Free for Fitness Center members or prospective members, but you must register in advance.

How do I register?

Registration is now open! If possible, please register online via MyRec, which carries no service fees and offers immediate confirmation. (You first will need to create a MyRec account, if you have not already done so; once we verify residency and approve the account, you can register for any of our offerings going forward.)

You also can register in our office, where we will help you set up a MyRec account and can accept cash, check, and credit cards. Our office is open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays (including Spring Break); park in the visitor lot in front of Plymouth High School, 125 S. Highland Ave., and enter Door 18 of the addition.

While MyRec registration is preferred, you still can print a registration form to mail with a check to Community Ed & Rec, 125 S. Highland Ave., Plymouth WI 53073.
