Plymouth School District announces summer opportunities

The Plymouth School District offers a number of exciting activities to keep students learning, exploring, and moving during the summer months!

Summer School

Plymouth Summer School will offer dozens of classes – at no charge to families! – for district students currently in grades 4K-11. All classes will meet Monday through Thursday from June 16 to July 17 at Plymouth High School.

Grades 4K-5K

Kindergarten Readiness (for students now in 4K) and K-1 Transition (for students now in 5K) will meet from 8 to 11:45 a.m. Families can sign up for one or both two-week sessions: June 16-26 and/or July 7-17.

Grades 1-7

A variety of enrichment classes for students currently in grades 1-7 will run from 8 to 11:45 a.m.

Grades 8-11

Students currently in grades 8-11 can participate in Plymouth Strength & Speed Training, a general athlete-training program.

Squiggles & Wiggles Preschool

Community Education & Recreation again will offer Squiggles & Wiggles Preschool for potty-trained children ages 3 and 4 (must be 3 by June 1).

This fun introduction to school is taught by a DPI-certified teacher. It coincides with Plymouth Summer School, meeting from 8:30 to 11 a.m. Mondays through Thursdays from June 16 to 26 and from July 7 to 17 (off the week of June 30) at Horizon Elementary School, 411 S. Highland Ave.

Summer Child Care

Community Education & Recreation offers all-day summer care for children currently in 4K through fourth grade.

Two age-appropriate programs are available:

  • Berry Branch: For children currently in 4K or 5K. Care is available 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Horizon Elementary School, except no care is available during the hours Summer School is in session (i.e. 8-11:45 a.m. Monday-Thursday June 16-26 and July 17-27).
  • Extra Mile: For children currently in grades 1-4. Care is available 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Horizon Elementary School, except no care is available during the hours Summer School is in session (i.e. 8-11:45 a.m. Monday-Thursday June 16-July 17).

Fees vary based on the age of the child and the number of hours of care needed.

• New Berry Branch and Extra Mile students (those entering grades K-5) can sign up for child care online beginning April 21 via the MyRec online registration system.

Youth athletic camps

Summer athletic camps for students will include:

  • Girls Basketball: This camp for girls currently in grades 3-8 will be from June 9 to 13.
  • Boys Basketball: There will be two sessions for boys currently in grades 2-8: June 16-19 and/or June 23-26.
  • Tennis: Camp for those currently in grades 1-5 will be July 7-11. Camp for those currently in grades 6-8 will be July 14-18.
  • Football: This camp for students currently in grades 4-7 will be July 14-16.
  • Volleyball: This camp for students currently in grades 2-11 will be July 28-31.

Community Ed & Rec summer offerings

Community Education & Recreation is planning numerous classes and other activities for youth and families during its summer session, which runs from June through August.
