Field trips extend student learning

Posted January 13, 2025

Plymouth School District students enjoyed many field trips this fall!

A big thank-you to our families, parent organizations, and other donors who help make these outings possible!

Elementary schools

  • Parkview 5K visited Buechler Farms in Belgium, where students picked out a pumpkin, made caramel apples, took a horse-drawn wagon ride, colored a leaf for the tree, pet animals, and ate lunch. That morning a baby donkey was born!
  • Fairview 4th-graders visited the Wisconsin State Capitol and Henry Vilas Zoo on Oct. 10 as part of their social studies curriculum and to gain hands-on experience for an end-of-the-year persuasive writing piece.
  • Extra Mile and Berry Branch childcare kids visited Waldvogel Farms on Oct. 11.
  • Fairview 4th-graders visited the annual Lakeland College Steamfest on Oct. 17 and enjoyed many hands-on experiments.
  • Fairview 4K, Parkview 4K, and 3K students took a field trip to Final Option on Nov 20.

Riverview Middle School

  • Pegasus students attended the Mystery Writing Retreat presented by CESA 7 on Oct. 15 at the National Railroad Museum in Green Bay.
  • Fifth-graders visited the Plymouth Fire Station in October for Fire Safety Week.
  • Sixth-graders visited Camp Anokijig in October.

Plymouth High School

  • Advanced Welding students were invited to a robotic welding demonstration sponsored by Miller Welding and Matheson Gas Co.
  • Food Science students attended the Farm-Factory-Fork Career Discovery event at MATC on Nov. 4.
  • HOSA officers (president Chloe Krebsbach, public affairs officer Grant Thome, and vice president Olivia Monkoski) attended the Fall Leadership Conference at UW-Oshkosh on Nov. 7, which featured engaging workshops that focused on building leadership skills and preparing for healthcare careers.
  • Agriculture Careers and Leadership class members took a field trip to Adell Cooperative on Nov. 16. Agronomy manager Mike Mulder led the tour and talked to students about the various careers throughout the entire business.
  • HOSA members toured the Concordia University health sciences department on Dec. 4, where they isolated, counted and examined “tagged” leukemia cells with the biomedical department, made their own calamine lotion in the pharmacy department, and used chromatography to isolate components of an “unknown” pain pill with the chemistry department.
