Middle-school Track, Golf, Tennis begin soon

Area middle-school students in grades 7 and 8 are invited to participate in Riverview Track & Field, Tennis, or Golf this spring.

These activities are open to all area students in grades 7 and 8, including those who are homeschooled or attending parochial schools.

In order to participate, students must be registered using the MyRec online registration system. (Parents/guardians will need to create a MyRec account, if they do not already have one.) In addition, participants must have a Physical Evaluation Form signed by a doctor less than 2 years ago on file with Community Education & Recreation. The fee is $20 (plus a $50 greens fee for Golf); please contact Community Ed & Rec if financial assistance is necessary.

Track & Field

Middle-school Track & Field, which competes against other area middle schools, is coached by PHS teacher Kamie Gritt and Riverview teachers Gina Krueger, Tyler Gruett, and Sharon Koene.

An informational meeting for players and/or parents will begin at 3 p.m. Wednesday March 15 in the cafeteria at Riverview Middle School, 300 Riverside Circle. Registration via MyRec and the Physical Evaluation Form are due Friday March 31.

Practices will be from 3 to 4:30 p.m. beginning Monday April 3 in the Riverview gym. Meets will be held between April 17 and May 12, with qualifiers ending the season at the Middle-School State Championship on Saturday May 20 in Waupun.

Tennis

NOTE: Tennis now is open to grades 6-8, because there are open spots remaining on the team.

Middle-school Tennis, which competes against other area middle schools, is coached by Riverview teacher Tanya Strauss.

An informational meeting for players and/or parents will begin at 3 p.m. Tuesday March 28 in the cafeteria at Riverview Middle School, 300 Riverside Circle. Registration via MyRec and the Physical Evaluation Form are due Friday March 31.

Practices will be from 3 to 4 p.m. Mondays and Tuesdays beginning April 3 (depending upon the weather) on the PHS tennis courts. (Athletes can ride the bus from Riverview to PHS after school.) Several meets are scheduled between May 2 and 16.

Golf

Middle-school Golf is coached by Riverview teachers Dave Scheel and Maggie Brill.

An informational meeting for players and/or parents will begin at 3 p.m. Tuesday March 28 in Riverview Room 217. Registration via MyRec and the Physical Evaluation Form are due Friday April 14.

Participants will golf from 3 to 5 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays from April 18 through May 23 at Evergreen Golf Course. (They can ride the bus from Riverview to PHS after school.)
