PHS One-Act cast earns 6 State awards

Posted November 28, 2022

Plymouth High School has garnered six state awards for this year’s one-act play: Outstanding Ensemble, All-State, Outstanding Director, Outstanding Technical Theatre, and two Outstanding Actor Awards.

The awards were announced during the Wisconsin State High School Theater Festival held Nov. 17-19 at UW-Whitewater.
The Outstanding Ensemble Award recognizes overall excellence in collaboration and pacing, while All-State represents a school’s achievement of advancing to the State Festival, after performing well at the district and sectional levels.

The PHS One Act cast is directed by drama teacher Jack Colombo. The Outstanding Actor awards went to Miriam Fabian and Grace Lambert.

One-act plays must be completed in less than 40 minutes, including set-up and take-down of sets. This year’s PHS selection, “Radium Girls” by D.W. Gregory, traces the efforts of Grace Fryer, who painted luminous watch dials, as she fights for her day in court after coworkers began to fall ill with a mysterious disease.
