This year marks the 50th anniversary of the graduation of the Plymouth High School Class of 1972. Here is a look back at their senior year!
Homecoming
Homecoming 1971 on Oct. 22-23 featured:
- Hall and window decorating
- Homecoming Court – six seniors chosen by the football team and their dates
- Pep rally with skits, a yelling contest, pep band and chorus performances, and King and Queen crowning, followed by a bonfire on Friday
- Rainy parade on Saturday morning through downtown (during which a pig escaped from the junior float and ran into the crowd!)
- Football game victory over Kiel on Saturday afternoon
- Homecoming Dance with music by a live band on Saturday night in the school cafeteria
The arts
Performing opportunities included:
- Band, Chorus, Madrigal, and Glee Club
- Musical “Hello Dolly” in November
- One-act play “The Crucible” (Act 2)
- Christmas Choir Concert
- Senior class play “Auntie Mame” in March
- District and state solo & ensemble music festivals in the spring
Sports
Interscholastic sports for boys included:
- Baseball
- Basketball
- Cross Country
- Football
- Golf
- Swimming
- Tennis
- Track & Field
- Wrestling
Girls could be part of the Girls Athletic Association, which offered a variety of intramural activities (including badminton, baseball, bowling, gymnastics, and tennis) and fielded teams in basketball, track, and volleyball to play area schools.
