Plymouth 4K enrollment resumes

Posted April 13, 2020

The Plymouth School District once again is enrolling students who will begin 4-year-old kindergarten in the fall.

Enrollment had been suspended when the Safer At Home regulations went into effect, but for now the district now will be collecting forms through the mail.

To enroll a child in 4K, please visit the 4K Enrollment section of our Enrollment & Registration webpage and send the items listed there – except the birth certificate and the affidavit of residence – to the Plymouth School District, 125 S. Highland Ave., Plymouth WI 53083. If you do not have access to a printer, please contact the district at 920-892-2661 Ext. 1007 and ask for a packet to be mailed to you.

We will follow up with families later regarding birth certificates and affidavits of residence. We will make every effort to provide placement information by June 1 to families who have enrolled by May 1.

About 4K

Children must be at least 4 years old on or before Sept. 1 in order to enroll in 4K, which features enriching curriculum in a classroom setting four days a week. The nurturing environment is designed to foster independence, encourage creativity, provide for social growth, and challenge new learning.

Morning 4K generally runs from 8:45 a.m. to noon and afternoon 4K from 12:30 to 3:45 p.m., though schedules vary slightly by location.

For children needing care beyond the traditional half-day 4K session, the district has established collaborative agreements with the following agencies:

  • Berry Branch Child Care, operated by Community Education & Recreation, is offering child care at all elementary schools for 2020-21 from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. school days opposite the half-day 4K schedule, as well as all day when 4K is not in session, including summer break.
  • Growing Generations Childcare, in the Generations building, 1500 Douglas Drive, offers child care from 5:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. school days before and after half-day 4K, as well as all day when 4K is not in session, including summer break.
  • Head Start at Generations, also in the Generations building, offers a full day of 4K four days a week from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Each of these school-sponsored 4K programs is licensed by the State of Wisconsin and offers quality childcare services on site to reduce transitions, as well as a licensed early childhood teacher, a research-based developmentally appropriate curriculum, an emphasis on early literacy and math skills, and nutritious meals and snacks.
