Riverview Middle School in Plymouth will present Disney’s “Beauty & the Beast Jr.” as its annual musical Nov. 8-10, featuring students in the sixth, seventh and eighth grades.
This is the classic story of Belle, a young woman in a provincial town, and the Beast, who is really a young prince trapped under the spell of an enchantress. If the Beast can learn to love and be loved, the curse will end and he will be transformed to his former self. But if the Beast does not learn his lesson soon, he and his household will be doomed for all eternity.
Disney’s “Beauty & the Beast Jr.,” based on the Academy Award-winning animated film and the Tony Award-nominated Broadway production, features some of the most popular songs ever written by Alan Menken and the late Howard Ashman, along with new songs by Mr. Menken and Tim Rice.
Performances will begin at 7 p.m. Friday Nov. 8 and Saturday Nov. 9, with a matinee at 2 p.m. Sunday Nov. 10 in the Riverview Middle School Auditorium, 300 Riverside Circle. General admission tickets are $5 and are available in the school office and at the door.
Riverview’s production is directed by Riverview choral teacher Rachel Simac, eighth-grade teacher Sanora Stout, and school nurse Sara Stout.
