Plymouth School District Community Education & Recreation will offer a variety of fitness, wellness and youth classes this fall – a mix of returning favorites plus six new opportunities.

Registration is now open for the fall session, which will run from September through December. In-person registration is available from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday Aug. 22 and Friday Aug. 23 in the lobby of Riverview Middle School, 300 Riverside Circle.

After that, Community Ed & Rec staff will be in temporarily offices until their new space in the Plymouth High School addition is ready, but online registration is available at no additional fee. Paper registration forms (with payment) may be mailed to the Community Ed & Rec office, 125 Highland Ave., Plymouth WI 53073.

New opportunities include:

  • Rock Climbing: This family event for those ages 5 and up will challenge beginners and advanced climbers. The indoor vertical wall has four runs from basic to advanced with overhangs and straight climbs.
  • Vinyasa Yoga: This class is geared toward the intermediate yogi and will focus on Vinyasa flow, linking together one breath, one movement. It offers an active practice that strengthens the core, while improving balance and flexibility.
  • Felted Clutch: Create a one-of-a-kind clutch large enough to fit a cell phone and a few other items. Learn about the resist, wool preparation and layout, and the wet felting and fulling process.
  • In the Kitchen & Apothecary – Mushrooms for Optimal Health and Healing: Learn about the healing value of mushrooms as well as how to prepare them for nourishment and healing. Samples will be provided, and participants will leave with a mushroom tonic made in class.
  • Fermentation – Delicious Natural Bubbling Beverages: Fermented beverages are a delicious way to ingest healthy probiotics and provide delicious options to commercial soda. Taste samples of shrub, switchel and other soda alternatives and take home a culture and a beverage prepared in class.
  • Green Living Series: This is the first of a four-session series coaching consumers to dive deeper into making greener choices to mindfully lighten overall environmental impact. This first class will focus on energy efficiency, cost, and resource saving.
