Recent Plymouth High School graduate Alex Turicik is back with the Kids from Wisconsin for a fourth summer.

This year’s show – “The Beat Goes On!” – features music and artists that have stood the test of time. Selections are traditional, award-winning and memorable, and made popular by Billy Joel, Tina Turner, Cher, Queen, and Gershwin, among others.

The Kids from Wisconsin cast includes some of the state’s most talented singers and musicians ages 15 to 20, who were chosen from more than 300 applicants during statewide auditions in February.

Alex, who graduated from PHS on June 2, returns as principal bass guitar player. He has been part of many groups in the area, including the PHS Jazz Ensemble, PHS Pit Band, PHS Momentum Show Choir, UW-Sheboygan Jazz Band, and Lakeland University Pit Band. He also shares the stage with his father and other family in The FlamingOs Band.

The Kids from Wisconsin is part of an entertainment tradition created for talented youth in 1968. Today, a Kids from Wisconsin revue is performed live annually for about 120,000 people each summer – an estimated 10 million during the past 50 years. In addition to performing at the Wisconsin State Fair, the troupe presents about 35 road shows throughout Wisconsin.

The local performance is presented by the Plymouth Arts Center and sponsored by Masters Gallery, Sargento, The Sartori Company, Van Horn Auto, Bank First, Wisconsin Bank & Trust, Kathy and Paul Sartori, National Exchange Bank, and 1420am the Breeze Radio Station.

The show will begin at 7 p.m. Friday June 21. Due to construction at PHS, it has been moved to the new Howards Grove Center for the Arts, 401 Audubon Road.

Reserved seats cost $20 (or $14 for those 12 and under). To order tickets, contact the Plymouth Arts Center at 520 E. Mill St.; (920) 892-8409; or www.plymoutharts.org. Tickets also will be available from the box office beginning at 6 p.m. the night of the performance

The Kids from Wisconsin also will present a free outreach program for children ages 7 to 14 the day of the show. “Realize Your Dream” covers all aspects of performing arts with the iconic Kids from Wisconsin and offers youngsters a taste of life as a performer. The program will run from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. in the Howards Grove auditorium and include workshops in dance, music, band, and lights and sound. Pre-registration is required at https://www.kidsfromwisconsin.org/outreach.
