March 2019 School Board meeting summary

The Plymouth School District Board of Education met at 7 p.m. March 19, 2019 in the Plymouth High School Amphitheatre.


Pillars of Excellence

The board heard a presentation about the Riverview Middle School Math Club. The club, open to students in grades six through eight, meets after school from 2:45 to 3:30 p.m. every Monday. Participants compete in online practices as well as in-person competitions. Interested students should contact teachers Jessica Barrington (Room 202) or Billie Rau (Room 104).



The board accepted the resignation request of Josie Hau, teacher at Parkview Elementary School, who has served the school district for seven years.

The board also learned of the following support staff changes:

  • Judith Meerstein, secretary at Riverview Middle School, has submitted her retirement request. She has served the district for 30 years.
  • Erika Pichette, educational aide at Horizon Elementary School, has submitted her resignation.



The board gratefully accepted the following donations:

  • $2,106 from Sargento Foods to purchase classroom books for the STEM program.
  • $300.29 from Parkview PTK for transportation on field trips to the Building for Kids.
  • $194.42 from Fairview PTO for transportation on field trips to the Building for Kids and the Post Office.


Other business

The board also:

  • Accepted a bid from Miron Construction to install precast/steel fabrication and erection at Parkview and Fairview elementary schools.
  • Approved the 2019 Summer School course offerings.
  • Approved a Letter of Intent with the Mill Pond Association to accept the gift of a kayak launch if one is awarded to the association as the result of a grant.
