Middle-school wrestling to begin soon

Posted January 7, 2019

Plymouth-area boys and girls in grades five through eight are invited to participate in extracurricular wrestling this winter.

Middle-school sports, which are open to all area students whether they attend public or parochial school or are homeschooled, are coordinated by Plymouth School District Community Education & Recreation. The cost is $20 per sport; contact Community Ed & Rec if financial assistance is needed.

The wrestling team is coached by Riverview teacher John Hoopman. An informational meeting will begin at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15 in the gym at Riverview Middle School, 300 Riverside Circle.

Practices will run from 3 to 4:30 p.m. beginning Jan. 21 at Plymouth High School. The season consists of five conference meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays between Feb. 19 and March 5, plus a conference tournament on March 12.
