Public invited to school Veterans Day programs

Posted November 5, 2018

Three schools in the Plymouth School District are inviting the public to their Veterans Day programs.

Plymouth High School will have a program honoring Vietnam veterans from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Monday, Nov. 12 in the auditorium at the school, 125 Highland Ave. The program will feature the PHS band and PHS chorus and include a short presentation by the Advanced Speech class. Students will profile two local veterans:

  • Mark Dewitz, who enlisted in the Air Force in 1981 and served over the next decade as munitions specialist, helicopter flight engineer and fixed wing flight engineer, participating in Operation Just Cause in Panama from 1987 to 1989 and in Desert Shield in 1990 and Desert Storm in 1991.
  • Allen Arndt, who joined the Naval Reserve shortly before graduating from PHS in 1970 and spent two years in active duty on ships all over the world, seeing combat in Vietnam.

Family members and veterans are invited to join Parkview Elementary School, 500 Parkview Drive, for a short program honoring veterans at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 12 in the school gym. Students are encouraged to wear red, white and blue for the program, which will be presented by some of the school’s fourth-graders.

The public is invited to join Horizon Elementary School, 411 S. Highland Ave., for a program conducted by fourth-graders at 3 p.m. Monday, Nov. 12 in the school gym.
