Summer youth athletic camps announced

A number of youth athletic opportunities are being coordinated this summer by Plymouth School District Community Education & Recreation.

The camps listed below will take place at Plymouth High School, 125 Highland Ave. Parents can register for any or all camps with a single form per child and make one payment through Community Ed & Rec.

2018 Summer Youth Athletic Camps

Girls Basketball

Who: Girls entering grades 4-9
What: PHS coaches and players teach game fundamentals with drills and game play
When: June 11 to 15; grades 4-6 from 8 to 9:30 a.m., grades 7-9 from 9:45 to 11:15 a.m.
Where: PHS gym
Fee: $40 until May 25 (then $50); includes a T-shirt

Boys Basketball

Who: Boys entering grades 2-9
What: PHS coaches and players teach shooting, ball-handling and passing; camp emphasizes skill development with team play
When: Session 1 will be June 18 to 22, Session 2 will be June 25 to 29; grades 6-9 from noon to 1:30 p.m., grades 2-5 from 1:30 to 3 p.m.
Where: PHS gym
Fee: $40 per session or both for $55 until June 8 (then $50 and $65); includes a T-shirt

AM Swimming

Who: Boys and girls entering grade 9 and up
What: Focused training for experienced swimmers
When: 6 to 7:30 a.m. Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from June 11 to Aug. 2
Where: PHS pool
Fee: $40 until June 8 (then $50)

PM Swimming

Who: Boys and girls age 7 through entering grade 8
What: Introduction to competitive swimming
When: 3 to 4:30 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from June 18 to July 19
Where: PHS pool
Fee: $40 until June 8 (then $50)

Tennis

Who: Boys and girls entering grades 1-8
What: Drills and coaching from veteran tennis players; equipment can be borrowed during the weeks of camp
When: Mondays and Wednesdays from June 18 to July 25 (except July 4); grades 1-4 from 1 to 2 p.m., grades 5-8 from 2:15 to 3:15 p.m.
Where: PHS tennis courts                                                                   
Fee: $40 until June 8 (then $50)

Football

Who: Boys and girls entering grades 5-9
What: PHS football coaches cover game fundamentals, weight training and the development of speed, power and agility
When: from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. July 9 to 11
Where: PHS                    
Fee: $40 until June 29 (then $50); includes a T-shirt

Dance

Who: Boys & girls entering grades 1-6
What: Participants will learn dance routines, then perform for families
When: from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Thursday, July 19 & Friday, July 20; performance at 4 p.m. Friday
Where: PHS                    
Fee: $25 until June 29 (then $35), includes T-shirt & pizza
