The Plymouth High School chapter of the Future Business Leaders of America recently attended the State Leadership Conference, where students competed in business events and attended workshops.
More than 2,000 students from 124 schools attended the conference, held April 9 and 10 in La Crosse. “Elevate your Future” was the theme of the conference.
Autumn Mertes, a 2015 PHS graduate, was among those who spoke at the opening session to welcome the high school students and to encourage them to get involved when they enter college in the future. Miss Mertes, a senior at Marion University majoring in accounting, is state president of Phi Beta Lambda, the collegiate equivalent of FBLA.
Plymouth placed 17th as a chapter, and 14 PHS students were recognized at the conference Awards of Excellence program. Four students qualified to compete at the National Leadership Conference, set for June 28 to July 1 in Baltimore, Md.
