Parents and other community members are invited to participate in a Community Conversation about the opioid epidemic.
A behavioral health nurse and a sheriff’s deputy will outline the factors that led to the opioid problem and how to recognize signs of opioid and prescription drug abuse. Attendees then can explore simple ways for community members to get involved in prevention efforts.
The discussion will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 7 in the library at Plymouth High School, 125 Highland Ave., Plymouth. There is no fee, but participants are asked to pre-register by Monday, March 5.
A medication collection will be held in conjunction with the presentation. Those wishing to safely dispose of expired or unneeded over-the-counter or prescription medications can bring them from 5:30 to 7 p.m. to the Board Room (enter Door #2). Cross out identifying information, and place liquids in a plastic bag. Items not accepted include illegal drugs, needles/sharps, acids, aerosol cans, bio-hazardous materials (anything containing a bodily fluid or blood), personal care products (shampoo, soaps, lotions, sunscreens), household hazardous waste (paint, pesticides, oil, gas), and mercury thermometers.
