The Plymouth School District has announced that its annual 4-year-old kindergarten enrollment will be from Jan. 22 through Feb. 2.
Children must be at least 4 years old on or before Sept. 1 in order to enroll in 4K, which features enriching curriculum in a classroom setting four days a week. The nurturing environment is designed to foster independence, encourage creativity, provide for social growth, and challenge new learning.
Morning 4K generally runs from 8:45 a.m. to noon and afternoon 4K from 12:30 to 3:45 p.m., though schedules vary slightly by school. 4K placement is made at the district level, independent of elementary school placement.
For children needing care beyond the traditional half-day 4K session, the district has established collaborative agreements with the following agencies designed to minimize transitions for children:
Each of these school-sponsored 4K programs is licensed by the State of Wisconsin and offers quality childcare services on site to reduce transitions, as well as a licensed early childhood teacher, a research-based developmentally appropriate curriculum, an emphasis on early literacy and math skills, and nutritious meals and snacks.
To complete the enrollment process, please bring the items below to the Plymouth School District Office, located inside Plymouth High School, 125 Highland Ave., any time between 7:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. from Jan. 22 to Feb. 2:
• Birth certificate
• Immunization record
• 4K Placement Information Sheet (view information about your options)
• Two-sided Enrollment Form
• Two-sided Health Form
• Affidavit of Residence (complete but don’t sign, and bring to the district office to be notarized)
Placement information will be mailed to families in April. Family visitation will take place in August, so children do not need to be present for enrollment.
Parents who live in the district but will not be sending their children to public school for 4K are asked to call the district office at 892-2661 to have their names removed from the list and avoid follow-up calls.
