Middle-school wrestling to begin soon

Posted January 8, 2018

Plymouth-area boys and girls in grades five through eight are invited to participate in extracurricular wrestling this winter.

Middle-school sports, which are open to all area students whether they attend public or parochial school or are homeschooled, are coordinated by Plymouth School District Community Education & Recreation. The cost is $20 per sport; contact Community Ed & Rec if financial assistance is needed.

The wrestling team is coached by Riverview teacher John Hoopman. The initial meeting will begin at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 16 in the gym at Riverview Middle School, 300 Riverside Circle.

Practices will run from 3 to 4:30 p.m. beginning Jan. 22 at Plymouth High School. The season consists of six conference meets between Feb. 20 and March 12 and a conference tournament on March 15.
