Riverview Middle School students performed exceptionally well at the Lakeland University Middle School Math Meet on Nov. 13.
The Riverview team finished second out of 49 teams. As individuals, eighth-grader Reed Gahagan tied for second among all students with a score of 27 out of 40, while sixth-graders Erynn Kletzien and Matt Sheridan received honorable mention for their scores of 18 and 21, respectively.
Other members of the team include Forest Olsen, Carson Schwartz, Nick Shircel, John Steinhardt, and Marco Troka.
The Riverview Math Club is a new opportunity for students in grades six through eight to use and improve their mathematics skills and to learn more about advancements and opportunities in math-related fields.
The club meets after school from 2:45 to 3:30 p.m. every Monday through April. Participants compete in online practice competitions as well as math competitions outside the building. Interested students should contact teachers Jessica Barrington (Room 202) or Billie Rau (Room 112).
