Riverview will present Disney’s “High School Musical Jr.” as its annual musical Nov. 10 to 12, featuring choir students in the sixth, seventh and eighth grades.
The story closely follows the hit movie and full musical adaptation. The infectious, danceable songs include “Start of Something New,” “Stick To The Status Quo,” “Bop To The Top,” and “We’re All In This Together.”
The story begins the first day after winter break at East High. The Jocks, Brainiacs, Thespians and Skater Dudes all find their cliques. Basketball team captain and resident jock, Troy, discovers that the brainy Gabriella, a girl he met singing karaoke on his ski trip, has just enrolled at East High.
The couple causes an upheaval when they decide to audition for the high school musical. Although many students resent the threat posed to the "status quo," Troy and Gabriella’s alliance might just open the door for others to shine as well.
Performances will begin at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 10 and Saturday, Nov. 11, with a matinee at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 12 in the Riverview auditorium, 300 Riverside Circle, Plymouth. General admission tickets are $5 and are available in the school office and at the door.
