October School Board meeting summary

The Plymouth School District Board of Education met at 7 p.m. Oct. 17, 2017 in the Plymouth High School Amphitheatre.



The board learned of the following support staff changes:

  • Mary Perman, Food Service employee, has resigned after serving the district for 11 years.
  • Cheryl Rivas, Riverview Middle School custodian, has resigned after serving the district for 2 years.


Financial matters

The board approved the 2017-18 operating budget and certified a tax levy of $11,303,019, up less than 1 percent from last year. The levy includes:

  • $9,673,442 for the general operating fund
  • $1,444,577 million for debt service
  • $185,000 to support Community Education & Recreation operations

Thanks to an increase in property values, the mill rate will drop from $8.33 to $8.13 per $1,000 of equalized valuation.

To cover expenses for a few weeks until state aids are received, the board also approved a line of credit of up to $2.5 million from Bank First National.
