PHS, community celebrate Homecoming

Plymouth High School held its 2017 Homecoming on Sept. 29, featuring a parade through downtown, a football game, and plenty of Panther Pride.

Friday’s events included:

  • Alumni Hall of Fame induction of Gary Gritt of the Class of 1973, Joel Dudley of the Class of 1995, and Beau Hoopman of the Class of 1999.
  • Pep rally featuring a lip sync competition (won by the juniors) and wacky games (won by the seniors).
  • Announcement of the Homecoming Court, chosen by the student body from representatives of each student activity or club.
  • Annual PHS Homecoming Parade through downtown, featuring student teams and organizations as well as community entries.
  • Brat fry at the Finke Field concession stand sponsored by the PHS Soccer Booster Club.
  • Homecoming football game against Ripon, which the Panthers won!

The school celebrated Homecoming Week from Sept. 24 to 30 with a variety of events, including:

  • Boys volleyball tournament on Sept. 24, won by a team of seniors.
  • Girls powder puff football tournament on Sept. 24, won by the seniors.
  • Storefront Decorating Contest for area businesses, with first- and second-place plaques for the most spirited displays in keeping with the Disney theme “Where Dreams Come True.”
  • Themed dress-up days, with class color on Monday, “High School Musical” preppy fashions on Tuesday, “Sleeping Beauty” pajamas on Wednesday, “Monsters University” college gear on Thursday, and Panther Pride on Friday.
  • Annual tug-of-war competition on Sept. 29, won by the seniors.
  • 60th Anniversary Open Houses at Fairview and Parkview elementary schools on Friday afternoon and Saturday morning.
  • Homecoming dance on Saturday in the PHS cafeteria.
