September School Board meeting summary

The Plymouth School District Board of Education met at 7:50 p.m. Sept. 19, 2017 in the Plymouth High School Amphitheatre.

 

Personnel

The board approved contracts with the following teachers:

  • Kelly Briggs to be a speech and language pathologist at Horizon Elementary School. She earned a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree from UW-Stevens Point; this will be her first year of teaching.
  • Angelina Delgado to be a fourth-grade teacher at Fairview Elementary School. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Cardinal Stritch University; this will be her first year of teaching.
  • Jean Hoffman to be a 4K teacher at Fairview Elementary School. She earned a bachelor’s degree from UW-Whitewater; this will be her 14th year of teaching.
  • Debora Kidder to be family and consumer education teacher at Riverview Middle School. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Aurora University of Illinois and a master’s degree from National-Louis University Chicago.
  • Kylie Watry to be an educational specialist at Riverview Middle School. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Cardinal Stritch University; this will be her first year of teaching.

The board accepted a resignation request from Katherine Barrows, fourth-grade teacher at Fairview, who served the district for one year.

The board also learned of the following support staff changes:

  • Mary Augustine has been hired as an educational assistant at Fairview Elementary School.
  • Cassidy Boldt has been hired as an educational assistant at Fairview Elementary School.
  • Shealynn Brown has been hired as an educational assistant at Plymouth High School.
  • Elyse Buchholz has been hired as an educational assistant at Horizon Elementary School.
  • Ida Dickfoss has been hired as a server/cook at Fairview and Horizon elementary schools.
  • Krystal Guenther has been hired as an educational assistant at Riverview Middle School.
  • Amanda Hendricks has been hired as an educational assistant at Plymouth High School.
  • Katherine Jonsson has been hired as a server/cook at Parkview Elementary School.
  • Melissa Main has been hired as an educational assistant at Riverview Middle School.
  • Todd Rortvedt has been hired as a food service driver.
  • Haley Stewart has been hired as an educational assistant at Horizon Elementary School.
  • Courtney Wieser has been hired as an educational assistant at Plymouth High School.
  • Ruth Ann Easteroff, educational assistant at Horizon Elementary School, has resigned after 1 year of service to the district.
  • Kelly Flaig, educational assistant at Fairview Elementary School, has resigned after 15 years of service to the district.
  • Thomas Spatt, educational assistant at Fairview Elementary School, has resigned after 7 years of service to the district.

 

Gifts and donations

The board gratefully accepted the following donations:

  • $1,567 from Horizon PATH for student transportation.
  • $1,407 from Riverview Middle School Activity Group for student transportation.
  • $756 from Fairview PTO for student transportation.

 

Other matters

  • Assistant Superintendent Dan Mella updated the board on the strategic plan in support of the Extracurriculars Excellence Pillar.
  • The board approved a contract with Architects Groups Limited for facility planning services.
  • The board approved a travel request from PHS agriscience teacher Tracy Heinbuch to take students to the National FFA convention Oct. 25-28 in Indianapolis.
