NASCAR XFINITY Series team haulers will gather at Plymouth High School prior to their convoy to Road America for this year’s Johnsonville 180.
Haulers will gather in the PHS student lot at 125 Highland Ave. between 2:30 and 5:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 25. The event, held rain or shine, is free and open to the public.
Visitors will have a chance to see the haulers up close. The PHS Tech & Engineering Club will host a brat fry at the concession stand near the football field, with proceeds to help fund its activities.
The convoy to the track, led by a Johnsonville semi, will depart around 5:30 p.m. and head west on Eastern Avenue and through downtown Plymouth before proceeding north on Highway 67 to Road America.
The PHS location provides additional exposure for the new NASCAR Acceleration Nation program, the sport's first-ever national learning and entertainment platform created just for kids. Developed in conjunction with Scholastic, Acceleration Nation offers an in-school Science, Technology, Engineering & Math (STEM) program, with classroom content focusing on the aerodynamic principles of Drag, Downforce and Drafting.
The green flag drops at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 27 for the Johnsonville 180 NASCAR XFINITY Series race, which will be broadcast live on the NBC Sports Network. Additional rounds for the SCCA Pro Trans-Am Series and ARCA Series will fill the action-packed weekend.
Tickets to the races are available through www.roadamerica.com or by calling (800) 365-7223. Anyone 16 years old and under gets in free with a paying adult at the gate. Racing runs rain or shine.
